Split operates split.vote. You can vote without creating an account or giving us your name or email address. Here is how the site handles your data.
Your votes
We save your choices and when you voted, linked to a random browser identifier. This lets us remember your votes, show your history, change a choice and prevent duplicate votes from the same browser. Public results show combined totals, not your browser identifier or personal voting history.
Cookies and browser storage
The split_visitor cookie remembers your browser for up to one year. We also store feed progress on your device so skipped Splits do not immediately repeat. That progress is not saved in our database.
You can clear this data in your browser settings. Doing so resets your feed progress and access to your voting history; it does not delete votes already stored on our servers. Votes currently have no automatic expiry.
Analytics
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand visits and how many Splits people vote on in the homepage feed. It uses cookies and collects information such as pages visited, browser and device details, and approximate location. We do not send it your voting identifier or which side you chose. Advertising personalization is disabled.
Analytics stays off until you accept. You can refuse and still vote, or change your choice through Analytics settings in the footer. We save your choice in this browser until you change it or clear site data. Withdrawing permission stops future tracking and removes our Google Analytics cookies; it does not erase data already sent to Google.

Hosting and security
Cloudflare hosts Split and its database. It processes technical request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. Our hosting and analytics providers may process data outside your country. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for more information.
Your choices and rights
You can change your vote after revealing a result. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict or object to its use, and complain to your data protection authority. Because votes are linked to a browser identifier, we may need information from that browser to locate them.
